A native of Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, Ausharra Knox has been a licensed barber for more than 22 years. Known for his versatility and attention to detail, he is a well-rounded barber who specializes in cutting all hair textures, beard sculpting, and men’s facial grooming.

One of his signature services, the Beard Culture Experience, has become a client favorite. The service includes a full haircut, a relaxing hot towel facial steam, a soothing facial massage, and a meticulously detailed beard sculpture, providing clients with a premium grooming experience.

In 2021, Ausharra and his wife opened Beard Culture Barbershop, creating a professional, family-friendly environment dedicated to excellence in grooming and community engagement. Since opening, Beard Culture Barbershop has been honored with the Chambana Buy Black Business of the Year Award and The News-Gazette People’s Choice Award for Best Barbershop. The shop has also been featured in numerous publications and media outlets.

Among the many highlights of his career, Ausharra had the privilege of providing grooming services for the original members of the iconic band Earth, Wind & Fire. He has also been featured in The Barber Today and BarberEvo magazines.

Beyond barbering, Beard Culture Barbershop serves as a creative space for the community, featuring an art gallery showcasing more than 40 pieces by local artists. Growing up, I was inspired by my brother and dad—both barbers themselves—who showed me the craft from a young age. I officially started my journey at 21 and attended BNBC (Bloomington & Normal Barber College), where I sharpened my skills and learned the art of precision, style, and customer care. Whether it’s a clean fade, a sharp lineup, or a classic cut, I’m all about helping clients look and feel their best in the chair. Alan Guerrero began cutting at the age of 13 and soon became the go to barber for many friends and schoolmates in Champaign, IL. After realizing that he had a gift and was passionate about the craft he decided to attend Bloomington – Normal Barber College after graduating high school. 

He has completed his studies and enters the career of barbering as professional barber! Alan is ready to make his name ring as one of the up and coming barbers in our industry. 

Alan is a well rounded barber that specializes in cutting all textures of hair (tapers,

fades, scissor cuts etc.) He is a much welcomed addition to our Beard Culture family.
